Overview
Aguas Blancas is a large iodine, sulphate and nitrate deposit located in the Atacama Desert. The Aguas Blancas Property, located in the II Region, Northern Chile, consists of 234 registered mining concessions covering 40,000 hectares, 65 pending mining concessions covering 12,100 hectares and 4 exploration concessions covering 1,100 hectares. All the concessions are legally registered in the name of Atacama Minerals Chile SCM, a wholly owned subsidiary of Atacama. The concessions are free of mortgage, encumbrances, prohibitions, injunctions and litigations.
The Aguas Blancas iodine deposit is located near the centre of the Property. Atacama Minerals also has been granted water rights on 13 holes for a total water flow of 163.25 l/s. Another 11.1 l/s water flow on 3 additional holes is still pending approval. Atacama Minerals also has a long term lease agreement with Universidad de Antofagasta, for the use of 15l/s. Surface rights over 5,566 ha in the plant and mining areas, as well as a 1,800 m x 25 m strip for water conduits, have also been granted.
Power is supplied through the local power grid. The connection point is located 28 kilometers northeast of the Aguas Blancas mine and consists of two new substations and a 69 kilovolt transmission line.
